Most Kenyan government services are now accessed through eCitizen, the official online portal, or in person at Huduma Centres. Payment for government services goes through a single paybill, 222222, and your National ID is your main identifier.
eCitizen is the Kenyan government’s official online portal, offering thousands of services from across ministries, counties and agencies in one place — from passports and certificates to land searches and business registration.
Huduma Centres are one-stop government service points where you can access many public services in person, under one roof. They are the in-person counterpart to eCitizen, useful for those who prefer or need face-to-face help.
Payments for government services are made through one official channel — the government paybill 222222 — using the reference number generated by eCitizen. This single-paybill system replaced the many separate paybills agencies used before.
The documents that run your life — birth certificate, national ID, passport, KRA PIN, driving licence and a good-conduct certificate — are obtained through eCitizen or Huduma Centres, each unlocking different rights and services.
